James Carpenter is the founder and CEO of Riverside Management Group, LLC (RMG) for 27 years. RMG is a merchant bank with approximately 70 senior professionals and advisors who have completed billions of dollars of transactions as advisors, principal investors and as management. Mr. Carpenter focuses primarily on opportunities in sustainability (recycling, clean energy, environmental services), sports (European football) and TMT. Most recently he co-led the $8 billion merger of ReNew Power, one of the largest renewable companies in the world, with RMG Acquisition II and raising a nearly $1 billion private placement. He led as principal and sole arranger of $700 million of equity and debt for Atletico de Madrid. He also co-led as arranger and principal investor approximately $130 million investment in Build A Rocket Boy, a leading metaverse and video game company. Mr. Carpenter is the former CEO of Horsehead Industries (now Befesa), the largest zinc producer and largest recycler of hazardous waste in the US. While there he led a highly successful turnaround during all time low zinc prices. The company soon thereafter reached a valuation of nearly $2 billion. Mr. Carpenter was a founding investor and longtime advisor of Puraglobe (www.puraglobe.com), a world leader in waste oil recycling. He also is a founder of Mohegan Energy where he led the capital formation for the acquisition of Met Resources, a company with over 40 million tons of steel making resources. Mr. Akeson recently joined RMG as Managing Director. Prior to joining RMG, he was Chief Operating Officer and Co-Head of Prime Brokerage at Mirae Asset Securities (USA). Previously Mr. Akeson held management positions at Neuberger Berman, Morgan Stanley, ICBC, and ADP. He has expertise in P&L management and is well versed in the various aspects of operating a securities firm. Mr. Akeson has also had General Partner and Advisory Board level experience with small money management firms. In addition, he has been a member of the DTCC Systemic Risk Roundtable and Chairman of the Business Management Interest Group of the CFA Society New York. He is currently on the Management Committee of the New York Alternative Investment Roundtable and is a member of the Economic Club of New York. Mrs. Alcindor joined RMG as a Managing Director in 2017 and is a strategic award winning senior leader with 16 years of investing and fundraising experience. Prior to RMG Mrs. Alcindor was a Private Wealth Advisor at Goldman Sachs where she managed the assets of high-net worth individuals and institutions with an average net worth of $25 M. Prior to Goldman Sachs, Mrs. Alcindor worked in the Retail and Consumer Division at Apax Partners, L.P. from 2005 to 2008, where she coordinated the deal process for multi-billion dollar transactions. Before joining Apax Partners, L.P. Nikisha managed the largest accounts for Pfizer, Inc. and was the top sales person in the country. She has an extensive background in healthcare, including corporate finance at Ethicon (Johnson & Johnson). Nikisha is an Advisory Director to the PCA Retirement & Benefits, Inc. and a Board member of the Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone. Nikisha holds a BA in Chemistry from Emory University and an MBA from Columbia Business School as a Leon Cooperman Scholar and is Series 7 and 66 licensed.

Mr. Bernegger is a founder and Managing Director of RMG and also serves as President and Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) of BCW Securities LLC (BCW), RMG’s broker dealer subsidiary. Since inception of RMG he has focused his efforts on targeting and developing new business initiatives, generating investment opportunities, portfolio management and fundraising. As CCO of BCW, Mr. Bernegger is primarily responsible for overseeing compliance within BCW, and ensuring compliance with laws, regulatory requirements, policies and procedures. Additionally, Mr. Bernegger has a background in management and sales. Prior to founding RMG in 1996, he was a Director of Sales for the Marriott Corporation’s Residence Inn subsidiary. In this position, he specialized in direct sales, market research, contract negotiation and all phases of property management. As a managing director of RMG, Mr. Bernegger has sourced and/or provided oversight for transactions totaling over $700mm. Mr. Baker rejoined Riverside Management Group in February, 2013 and is located in San Francisco, CA. Previously, from 2004 to 2007, Mr. Baker was a member of the RMG team serving in a similar capacity working with institutional clients and growth companies to identify private debt and private equity transactions. He is a seasoned professional with a background in venture capital investing with Hambrecht & Quist, private placement transactions with Alex. Brown, and, investment banking with Deutsche Bank. Mr. Baker been personally involved with over $1 Billion of private placement transactions with multiple firms with a wide variety of investors and growth companies operating in diverse sectors. He has an undergraduate degree from Williams College and a Masters of Business Administration from the Anderson School at The University of California at Los Angeles and holds the series 79 & 63 securities licenses.

Forbes Burtt brings to Riverside Management Group over 25 years of transaction experience both as a principal and as an investment banker. The primary focus of this activity has been lower middle market debt and equity transactions. Most recently, Forbes was a Managing Director at Hercules Technology Growth Capital. Hercules is a $1 billion publicly traded BDC that specializes in senior secured loans to growth oriented companies and also makes related equity investments. His prior principal activity was as a partner and head of business development at Laurus Capital Management, a $1.7 billion hedge fund focused on providing lower middle-market companies with creative debt capital solutions. As an investment banker, Forbes held the title of Managing Director at Bryant Park Capital, Tucker Anthony Sutro and Libra Investments. He started his investment banking career at Drexel Burnham.

William Deitrick joined RMG as a Managing Director in 2018. Prior to RMG he was a Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer with Venovate Marketplace Inc. focused on investment banking and capital raising for middle market companies. He has 20 years of experience in investment banking, research, and hedge fund management. He previously co-founded the multi-strategy hedge fund Greenock Capital where he was a Partner & Portfolio Manager and ran the firm’s credit business comprising of more than half of the firm’s assets under management. He was named one of the “20 Rising Stars of Fixed Income” by Institutional Investor Magazine in 2007. At Citigroup he was Global Head of Loan Strategy and his team was ranked number one by Institutional Investor Magazine’s 2006 annual poll of loan market professionals. He was a co-author in 2006 of The Handbook of Loan Syndications and Trading and co-authored in 2007 The Structured Credit Handbook. Previously he held similar positions at J.P. Morgan and Bank of America. Prior to working in finance he was a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State. He holds MA and BA degrees from Johns Hopkins University and a Diploma from the Phillips Exeter Academy. He has the FINRA Series 7, 79, and 63 securities licenses.

Mr. Emmert joined RMG as a managing director in 2014 and has over 17 years of Wall Street experience focusing on the consumer products, industrials, metals & mining, retail and technology sectors as an investor and an underwriter across the capital structure.  Prior to joining RMG, Eric was a managing director and the head of credit research for FBR Capital Markets where he developed the firm’s credit research product, introduced trade ideas to clients and partnered with the banking team on new issue underwriting.  From 2007 to 2011, Eric ran the high yield group at Allied Irish Bank and led them through the European financial crisis.  He began his career in commercial lending at Fleet Bank and also helped launch the high yield group at Guardian Life Insurance in 2000.  Mr. Emmert earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Tufts University and an MBA from the Stern School of Business at NYU.  He holds the series 24, 7, and 63 licenses.

Anna George joined RMG in 2017 and has over 15 years experience in financial services in the areas of Investment Banking, Sales and Trading and hedge fund investing. Ms. George was the founder and as portfolio manager of NovIndia Fund Management, one of the first hedge funds investing in equities in the Indian stock market. Ms. George has held positions in derivatives marketing, high yield trading and project finance at Merrill Lynch and Bankers Trust Company. In addition she was partner of a boutique investment bank that specialized in the emerging markets. While there, Ms George originated, negotiated and closed a $618 MM financing for the largest Mexican cellular services operator. In addition, Ms. George advised on Thai Telephone and Telecommunication’s US$1.2 billion debt restructuring with a consortium of foreign banks. She has served as CFO of Healthcite and Voltair Networks. Ms. George holds the series 7 and 63 securities licenses. She has an MBA in Finance from Columbia Business School and a BA in Economics from Wellesley College.

In addition to his responsibilities at RMG, Mr. Harizman is a Managing Member of Tyto Capital Partners LLC, a New Canaan, CT based private investment firm he founded in 2010 which specializes in debt and equity investing in special situations. From 2005 to 2010, Niv Harizman was a Founding Partner and Head of Corporate Finance at Plainfield Asset Management LLC, a $5.0 Billion special situations credit hedge fund. From 2000 to 2005, Mr. Harizman was a Managing Director of Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB) and a member of the Firm’s Investment Banking Mergers & Acquisitions Group. From 1995 to 2000, Mr. Harizman was a Managing Director in the Leveraged Finance/ Financial Sponsor Group of Bankers Trust and its successors Including BT Alex. Brown and Deutsche Bank. Richard A. Healy, Jr. joined Riverside in 2011. Over the last ten years he was been President of CHART , a business consulting firm in Annapolis, MD focusing on international corporate development for top 50 brand European firms seeking US market entry, and North American startups seeking European expansion. His industry experience ranges from green/clean tech to automotive, IT/telecoms and home improvement industries. Prior to that he was Managing Director of a corporate communications firm he founded and headquartered in Germany, serving US corporations’ operations in Europe such as GM, AT&T and Hughes. Mr. Healy has an MA in Slavic Studies from the University of Würzburg and has done graduate work in Finance within the University of Maryland system. Mr. Marko Issever joined Riverside Management Group (RMG) as a Managing Director in May 2016 in order to, among other things, lead the Firm’s EB5 capital raising and placement activities. He is also the Founding Partner of BH Capital Management, LLC, a real estate investment company specializing in investment and development opportunities. Prior to joining RMG and establishing BHCM, Mr. Issever was a Managing Director at The Bank of New York Mellon Global & Capital Markets, leading the firm’s derivative business to financial institutions globally. Mr. Issever has been in Wall Street for over 30 years and was also a Founding member of the derivative business in Sakura Global Capital, a Japanese bank subsidiary that subsequently merged with Sumitomo Capital Markets to form SMBC Capital Markets. Mr. Issever started his Wall Street career in Prudential Securities’ Financial Strategies Group where he specialized in mortgage backed security opportunities such as CMO’s, risk-controlled arbitrage transactions, as well as other asset backed securitizations including securitization of policy holder loans. Mr. Issever is a graduate of The Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania where he earned his MBA degree in Finance and MA in Economics. He speaks Turkish (native) and Ladino Spanish fluently. Gautam Kakodkar joined RMG in 2018. Mr. Kakodkar has over 18 years of experience in investments and strategic advisory across venture capital, credit and structured finance. He was a Director at AEP Onsite Partners, Vice President and Credit Investment Strategist at Barclays Capital, and Fundamental Credit Analyst at Lehman Brothers. Before Lehman, he was a Strategy and Supply Chain Consultant at Deloitte and Silver Oak Partners. He serves on the board of advisors of Financial Machines and Souljourn Yoga Foundation. Gautam received an A.B. and B.E. in Economics and Engineering from Dartmouth College, an M. Eng. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as well as an M.B.A. from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. Gautam holds the series 7 and 63 securities licenses.

JD Kosakowski joined RMG as a Special Advisor in 2018. Prior to joining RMG, Mr. Kosakowski was the Head of Business Development and Corporate Relations for Citadel Securities, including the relationship management of 12 Dow and more than 120 S&P 500 NYSE-listed companies. Since 2004, and throughout industry consolidation, he held the same position with KCG, Getco and Bank of America. His team consistently maintained the highest new listings win rate at the NYSE. Prior to entering the equities market making business, Mr. Kosakowski worked in Equity Research for Robinson-Humphrey covering Metals, Mining & Manufacturing stocks, performed M&A for Bank of America’s I-Banking team and acted as a Deal Manager for JPMorgan’s Corporate Development group. Mr. Kosakowski earned a BA from Harvard University in 1993 and a MBA from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School.

Justin Marcus is the Chief Operating Officer of Princeton Information, LTD, one of the largest privately-held IT consulting firms in the U.S. As COO since 2003, Mr. Marcus has overseen the firm’s domestic and global operations and has held primary responsibility for Princeton Information’s corporate strategy. Mr. Marcus heads the Princeton Information Executive Committee and is also Chairman of Princeton Information Offshore – the firm’s offshore staffing and solutions facility in Hyderabad, India. Prior to 2003, Justin acted as Branch Manager of Princeton Information’s New York office, during which time he helped design and implement the firm’s expansion into new markets. Mr. Marcus began his 20-year career at Princeton Information as a Senior Account Executive in the New York office, selling consulting services to the Investment Banking industry. Mr. Marcus received his Bachelor of Arts from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. Nicky joined RMG as a managing director in 2013. Prior to joining RMG, Nicky served as the Interim Chief Executive Officer and Interim President of Sbarro Inc. from July 2010 to February 2012. Sbarro was a portfolio company of MidOcean Partners, where Nicky served as Managing Director. Nicky stepped into Sbarro to lead the Company through a financial reorganization and successful led the Company out of Chapter 11 in late 2011 and left the Company in early 2012. Nicky worked at MidOcean and its predecessors from 1997 until 2012. During his fifteen years with the group Nicky worked on transactions in both the consumer and industrial space and notable transactions included Jostens, Inc., Jenny Craig, Therma-Tru Doors and Hunter Fan Company. He also has experience as a Consultant at Bain & Company and as a Financial Analyst at Kidder, Peabody & Co. Incorporated. Today, Nicky serves on the Board of TastiD-Lite, a Snow Phipps portfolio Company. He graduated with an MBA from the Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar and has a B.Sc. (Hons) from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland.

Mr. Shanker Merchant joined Riverside Management Group (RMG) in May 2018 to focus on developing investment banking business in the middle-market financial institution and specialty finance sectors. Mr. Merchant has 30 years of corporate finance and structured finance business development and execution experience at Wachovia Securities, Prudential Securities and Citigroup. Prior to joining RMG, he worked as a Managing Director at CAVU Securities developing investment banking business in the community banking sector, and worked at three other boutique investment banking firms: CastleOak Securities, Cabrera Capital and NewOak Capital, as a Managing Director developing new business. Mr. Merchant’s corporate finance experience includes public and private debt and equity capital raise, and M&A advisory transactions. His structured finance experience includes asset-backed, mortgage-backed, insurance-linked, and hedge-fund-linked securities, and tax-exempt/taxable swap transactions. Mr. Merchant earned an MBA-Finance degree from Columbia University and a PhD-Physics degree from City University of New York. He has published over fifteen articles in banking, Insurance, asset-management and Physics. He holds Series 7, 63 and 52 securities licenses.

Julia V. Mineeva joined Riverside Management Group (RMG) as a Managing Director in December 2020, with a focus on contributing to the firm’s capabilities and expertise in developing opportunities for late venture stage industry clients and the private investment sector, specifically to collaborate in the area of corporate equity, investment fund, and alternative asset capitalization. Prior to joining RMG, Ms. Mineeva was active in financial, economic and private equity project analysis for international advisory and consulting groups. In the scope of her work, Ms. Mineeva led the efforts of those groups, aimed at interfacing with Sovereign Wealth Funds on the analytic aspects of cross-border projects, and particularly with those projects centered on specific areas of technology discovery and sector development — such as biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, nanotechnology, consumer-luxury, resorts, and both aviation & defense. With an MBA in finance from the Wharton School of Business, Ms. Mineeva also has a JD and a background in immigration law. Following her graduation from the Wharton School of Business, Ms. Mineeva began her transition to corporate and global finance, initially at Capital Growth Financial and then in Sales & Trading at Morgan Stanley. This was followed by her tenure as a senior equity analyst at Gabelli Funds, specialized in the consumer retail and pet product sectors. While at Gabelli, Ms. Mineeva also honed her expertise in high net-worth sales, raising capital for that firm’s extensive investment fund portfolio, and providing in-depth analysis on numerous private and public companies across various industry sectors. Ms. Mineeva will seek to develop investment capital access for late venture as well as established private equity companies who command both technological surprise and unique growth advantages across a range of attractive domestic and offshore industry sectors. Ms. Mineeva holds Series 7, 63, 86, 87 licenses, and is bilingually-fluent in English and Russian.

Dan Nathan joined RMG in January of 2019 and  is the principal of RiskReversal Advisors. Founded in 2016, RiskReversal Advisors offers consulting services to investment banks, investment advisors, and private companies. Dan has spent the better part of the last 20 years as a proprietary equity & options trader at hedge funds (SAC, Exis and Cheyne Capital) and within the equity derivatives group of Merrill Lynch. From 2009 to 2016 Dan served as an intermediary to investment banks for large equity option block trades. In 2011, Dan co-founded RiskReversal.com, a service dedicated to educating equity investors to the alternative ways to express their views in the public markets, by detailing the uses of equity options to better define risk, enhance yield and make use of leverage in a cost-effective manner.  Dan is a CNBC contributor and has been a regular panelist on their Options Action program since its inception in Q1 of 2009, and a regular panelist on their Fast Money program since 2011. Dan is a 1995 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and holds the 7 and 63 Securities Licenses.

In addition to his responsibilities at RMG, Mr. Oliver is the Managing Principal of Cygnus Advisors LLC, a Greenwich, CT based private investment and advisory firm he founded in October 2006. From August 2005 to October 2006 he was a Portfolio Manager with client and investment management responsibility for Silver Point Capital, L.P. in Greenwich, CT. Prior to that time, Mr. Oliver was a Vice President in the Investment Banking Division of JPMorgan in New York City for over 5 years. While at JPMorgan he was responsible for originating, structuring, syndicating and restructuring corporate debt transactions primarily in the media, communication and technology industry sectors. Prior to that time, Mr. Oliver was a Vice President & Director at TD Securities in New York City for over 5 years. While at TD Securities he worked in the Corporate Finance and Leveraged Finance business units serving clients in the media, communication and technology industry sectors. Mr. Oliver earned a B.S. of Business Administration and an M.B.A. from the Clarion University of Pennsylvania and holds the series 7, 79 & 63 securities licenses.

Mr. Omari focuses on advising companies within the distributed ledger technology stack. His experience extends to cybersecurity, where he advised the management team of Gartner ranked network security provider. He also provided cross-border financial advice to a company listed on a prominent European stock exchange seeking to advance the treatment of age-related diseases. His international work also extends to the far East, where he worked closely with the management team of a German and Korean backed financial technology company seeking to modernize the back & middle office workflows of emerging independent financial advisors across mainland China. Most recently, Sam was at Evans Hagen & Company.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree from St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY where he studied Economics and Biology. He also holds the Series SIE, 63 & 79 licenses.

James joined RMG as a Special Advisor in 2018. Previously, James spent over 10 years working for Goldman Sachs in numerous sales, trading and strategy roles. The majority of his time at Goldman has been focused on business development and sales where he has successfully built numerous businesses selling foreign exchange, interest rate and capital markets risk advisory services to multinational corporations and institutional investors of all sizes. During the financial crisis James worked directly for the Chairman & CEO and for the President of Goldman Sachs on strategic initiatives. As a member of the Office of the Chairman, he led or contributed to numerous executive level undertakings which included: preparing executives for US Congressional testimony, meetings with heads of state, dignitaries, elected officials, regulators and other corporate executives, drafting regularly scheduled speeches as well as an editorial published in the Financial Times responding to the financial crisis formally authored by Chairman & CEO Lloyd Blankfein. James earned his undergraduate degree in economics from Harvard University and his MBA in finance from the Wharton School.

Josip Rupena joined RMG in 2018 and is currently the CEO of Milo Credit, a financial technology company focused on expanding home credit to foreigners in the US. Prior to joining RMG, Josip was in the Private Wealth Management group at Morgan Stanley working with international clients. Before Morgan Stanley, he started a trade finance company focused in Latin American and began his career in the Investment Management division at Goldman Sachs. Josip was also the head trader and portfolio manager at GFG Capital a $700 million family office trading emerging market credit. Josip has a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Miami and was an athlete on the tennis team. He currently holds the series 7 and 66 securities licenses.

Mr. Smallman joined RMG as a Managing Director and has over 20 years of experience on Wall Street having worked on +$13 billion of strategic advisory, M&A, & corporate restructuring assignments and +$30 billion of public/private securities transactions in the Media & Communications industries. From 2010 to 2012, Cliff was a Partner and Co-Head of the Media & Communications Group at Cantor Fitzgerald & Co. From 2007 to 2010, he was a Managing Director at Waller Capital, a Media & Communications advisory boutique. In 2004, Cliff founded VALNIC Capital, a firm focused on advising companies in the Media, Communications & Payments industries. From 1998 to 2004, Cliff worked as a Director at CSFB in the Media & Telecom Group. Mr. Smallman began his career at Deutsche Bank initially in Frankfurt/London and from 1993 in New York. Mr. Smallman graduated with Honors from the European Business Schools in London, Paris and Wiesbaden. He currently holds the Series 79 and 63 securities licenses.

Robert joined RMG as a Special Advisor in 2015 with a focus on real estate and industrial transactions in Spain. In addition to his duties at RMG, Robert has been active within AMG Advanced Metallurgical Group N.V. spearheading the Leader Lueshe Project. He is a Senior Consultant and Private Equity Partner for the environmental services, specialized industry, transport, rail, wind energy, and metals sectors. Robert has been a Managing Director with Iberduke Capital Partners, S.A.; Inversiones Ibersuizas, S.A.; and Metallgesellschaft AG. Robert is fluent in English, Spanish, French and basic German and has earned an MBA from Insead (Fontainebleau),a Masters in Quantitative Management from Deusto (San Sebastian), and a Law Degree from the Universidad De Navarra (Pamplona).

Jay Wickham joined Riverside Management Group in 2012 following an entrepreneurial career path. Prior to RMG he was a trader on the floor of the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) where he was a member and worked for over 20 years. There he founded Anaconda Trading Corp., a commodity brokerage, buying and selling futures contracts in the oil complex for institutional clients including those in refining, airline and hedge fund industries. His experience extends to startup investing and direct management. Mr. Wickham earned BA degrees in Finance and Criminal Justice from Richard Stockton College of New Jersey and holds the series 7 and 63 securities licenses.

Michael joined RMG as a Special Advisor in 2012 with a focus on M & A transactions in the Brazilian marketplace. Mike most recently was the CEO of Elucid, a Brazilian software application firm, which he sold to Sonda, a Chilean multinational IT company, in 2012. Prior to guiding Elucid through its sale to Sonda, Michael worked as a team leader with prominent companies including Oracle, Informix and KPMG. With over 22 years of proficiency in technology and specifically the Energy arena in Brazil, he is an expert in working with the largest Brazilian firms, both private and public. Today he is part of Brazil’s G100, the most influential business members in Brazil. He graduated with a BA in International Relations from Boston University.

Mr. Wood is a founder and Managing Director of RMG. Mr. Wood concentrates on finding and developing new investment opportunities with an emphasis on broadband, software and semiconductor industry opportunities. From 1991 to 1996, Mr. Wood was co-founder and General Manager of four Philadelphia area restaurants. He was responsible for all phases of management, including operations and finance. As a managing director of RMG, Mr. Wood has sourced and/or provided oversight for transactions totaling over $200mm and is an advisor to iCueTV, an interactive media company. Mr. Wood graduated with a BA in Operations Management from Wesley College and holds the series 82 & 63 securities licenses.

Keith Wyness is a high level sports administrator who has worked on the Sydney 2000 Olympics as well as being CEO of Aberdeen FC, Everton FC and Aston Villa FC. He has advised sporting federations around the world on every aspect of the football business on and off the pitch.  He has been involved in a number of buy/sell situations with football clubs globally. He has been on the Board of EPL Shareholders as well as International Federations. He holds his BA Hons Industrial economics from Nottingham University in the UK. He lectures on football administration at MBA courses and other college management courses.

Eddy Zervigon joined RMG in 2013. Prior to joining RMG, Eddy was a Managing Director in the Principal Investments Group at Morgan Stanley, where he worked for fourteen years. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, he was a Certified Public Accountant at Coopers and Lybrand. He currently serves as a director for Bloom Energy. He previously was a director of Digitalglobe, TVN Entertainment, MMC Theatres, and Impsat Fiber Networks. Eddy has a Bachelor of Accountancy degree and master’s degree in Tax from Florida International University and a MBA from the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. Eddy holds the series 7 and 63 securities licenses.
